Godmanchester is located where Ermine Street, the Roman road from London to York via Lincoln, crosses the river Great Ouse, just south of Huntingdon. The Via Devana, from Colchester to Chester also crosses Ermine street here so at some stage in its past, it might have been a busy interchange in the Roman world. Back then Godmanchester was known as Durovigutum. Now it is known as "Goddy" and the A14 grinds its way past. Listen out for it on the travel news! It is a scenic small town of about 6500 people.
A church at the heart of the community with community at its heart’
GBC is ‘A church at the heart of the community with community at its heart’. Our mission is to ‘Love God, love each other and make disciples’. We are here for absolutely everyone whether they would consider themselves to be ‘inside’ or ‘outside’ of the church.
A church of congregations and cells
GBC is made up of congregations and cells “Church” is those people who chose to say “this is my church”. Most people who form GBC have a sense of belonging to a congregation and a cell group or team. More information.
Go to the How to find us page for a map and details about parking. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities. We have parking spaces near the entrance. If you are in a wheelchair or have any other disability there is an accessible toilet available with side transfer facility and rails. We have a loop for the hearing impaired.
In our worship we are learning in a contemporary way how to celebrate what God has done for us and also how to be reflective, seeking to hear God’s voice.
We believe in the authority of the Bible and the importance of teaching its truth in ways that communicate in today’s world. We are open to the ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit and know the need to be filled with the Spirit constantly to live a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ.
Our desire is that everyone is valued and their gifts used inside and outside of the church fellowship.
We are members of the Evangelical Alliance and the Baptist Union of Great Britain and are affiliated to Faithworks. We value good relationships with other churches in Godmanchester and Huntingdon and are members of Churches Together in Huntingdon.
