Godmanchester Baptist Church (GBC) is a large community of people, gathering for worship in various congregations, who are committed to loving God, loving each other, and making disciples in our communities. Over the last ten years or so we have extended and refurbished our existing premises in East Chadley Lane, Godmanchester to their full extent – but we are still bursting at the seams.
We were therefore delighted when, in 2022, we received the amazing gift of The Beacon Centre (formerly known as Grace Fellowship) in Little Stukeley. Details of how to find us are here.
Over the last couple of years we have, as a church, been praying about how God wants us to use this new venue, and we have worked hard on upgrading the building and its facilities.
We are excited about what is already happening at The Beacon Centre and we look forward to more developments in the coming months.
One of our GBC congregations meets weekly at 10.30am every Sunday for our Sunday Morning Celebration.
Stay and Play is our toddler group on a Monday morning in term time.
Open House Worship is our periodic Friday evening gathering for praise and worship – see the calendar for dates.
Some of our TOOLBOX events take place at The Beacon Centre too. These are discipleship studies, discussion groups and courses for people exploring faith or wanting to grow in their faith.
Part of our vision at The Beacon Centre is that it is used as a place of teaching, training, restoration and refreshment. As part of exploring that vision, we are delighted to be able to offer:
- a programme of Retreat days where we can draw aside and meet with God without distractions. Details can be found here.
- occasional teaching days – the next one is teaching on the Holy Spirit and details are here.
We also hold some of our GBC TOGETHER events at The Beacon Centre. These are monthly social events for the whole church family.
On the area to the front of TBC is a Via Beata pilgrimage waystation. (Via Beata is a pilgrimage being built from Lowestoft to St David’s). This is open access to the public.
TBC is also available for private hire, both for regular and one-off events. We have a large main room, a lounge with kitchen, and various smaller rooms as well as outdoor space and plenty of room for parking.
