This is GBC

Godmanchester grew up where Ermine Street, the major Roman road from London to York via Lincoln, crosses the river Great Ouse, just south of Huntingdon. Back then Godmanchester was known as Durovigutum.

The Via Devana, from Colchester to Chester also crossed Ermine Street here so in the past, the town would have been a busy interchange.

Nowadays, Godmanchester is a scenic small town of about 6,500 people.  It has returned to its old transportation role sitting close to the junction of the A1 and A14.  It is often mentioned as a place of congestion in the travel news!

Godmanchester Baptist Church is:

A church at the heart of the community with community at its heart
GBC is ‘A church at the heart of the community with community at its heart’. Our mission is to ‘Love God, love each other and make disciples’.

A church of congregations and cells
imageGBC is made up of congregations and cells  “Church” is those people who choose to say “this is my church”. Most people who form GBC have a sense of belonging to a congregation and a small group or team.

In our worship we are learning in a contemporary way how to celebrate what God has done for us and also how to be reflective, seeking to hear God’s voice.

We believe in the authority of the Bible and the importance of teaching its truth in ways that communicate in today’s world. We are open to the ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit and know the need to be filled with the Spirit constantly to live a life that is pleasing to Jesus Christ.

Our desire is that everyone is valued and their gifts used inside and outside of the church fellowship.
